Laiane was born in Alagoinhas, a city in northeastern Brazil. She graduated from the Federal University of Bahia in Salvador and earned her PhD from the University of Campinas, where she worked under the supervision of Professor Camilla Abbehausen. Her research focused on using chalcones and their derivatives as ligands to obtain metal complexes with potential antitumor and antiviral properties. Selected by the Atlanticas call (CNPq-Brazil) for postdoctoral funding, Laiane joined the Gasser group to develop new metal complexes for cancer treatment. Outside of her research, Laiane is passionate about singing, music, and enjoys outdoor activities and hiking.
